Church Steeple Painting - Paint or Siding?

Let me try to help you with deciding wether to paint or install siding on your steeple... There is a "term" in the steeple industry that exists but in reality does not. This "term" is "maintenance free", this "term" drives me bannanas, its been proven over and over, wether a steeple is made out of wood, aluminum, copper, fiberglass, etc. they all "will" wear and "will" all need repairs at some point of time.

Basically, if you are going to install a new steeple and you plan on having siding installed - (fair game) - just keep in mind, your steeple is vulnerable to constant wind load and harmonic vibrations, thus causing premature repairs, more or less depending on location.

If you are think of installing siding on an old exting steeple, dont. In the past 25 years, we have seen what some have thought siding and metal wraping would be the answer to make their church steeple "maintenance free" but then would find themselves "steeple free" and or close to having no steeple at all.
